Interprofessional Education

Interprofessional education occurs when two or more professions learn with, from and about each other to enable effective collaboration and improved health outcomes.

The goal of interprofessional education is to prepare professionals to become a collaborative practice‐ready health workforce that is better prepared to respond to local health needs.

We aim to provide opportunities for students from a variety of health disciplines to collaborate and learn with, from and about each other, through rural interprofessional practice supported placements, and student-led interprofessional practice clinics.

Our Clinical Educators also coordinate Student Workshop for Interprofessional Education (SWIPE) workshops across the regions during their placement for students to build their interprofessional knowledge and skills. To find out more about SWIPE, click here.

We have student accommodation in several locations across the Darling Downs and South West regions.

Our Student Support Co-ordinators are there to provide you 24/7 support during your stay and ensure you have the opportunity to experience the best of rural life.

To enquire about our accommodation for your placement in our region, please contact sqrhstudentsupport@uq.edu.au.

For further placement support, consider joining your local student club with the National Rural Health Student Network.

It has more than 9,000 members who belong to 29 university Rural Health Clubs from all states and territories. It is Australia's only multi-disciplinary student health network, bringing together people studying medicine, nursing and allied health, encouraging them to pursue rural health careers.
